Faith was not a part of Johnny’s family or early life on a farm in Arkansas. But at age nineteen, sensing a need for more meaning in life, Johnny accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. From that point, the trajectory of his life changed.
Johnny graduated from Gulf-Coast Bible College, in Houston, Texas, with a BS Ministerial Degree. While in college, he was president of his class, preached in a downtown mission ministry, sang with a music group and preached in a variety of locations. Johnny married his beautiful wife, Leslie, while in college. Together, they have three wonderful sons and daughters-in-law and six amazing grandsons.
Johnny is an ordained minister in the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana. Prior to coming to pastor in Springfield in 2010, other ministries and experiences included: serving as a youth minister, leading state-wide youth ministries and various state-wide boards, leading a ministry of outreach and discipleship, pastoring churches in Oklahoma, Mississippi and in other cities in Missouri.
Johnny’s strong desire is to have an authentic, personal, growing relationship with God, through Jesus Christ and interaction with the Holy Spirit and, in turn, to help others come to faith and maintain a growing, life-changing relationship with God.
